BOSJ Day Five

BUSHI vs Tiger Mask: ***¼

Another pretty good match for Tiger Mask, going on a tear this year. Bit slow starting off but built and turned into a good, entertaining match with a few good spots. Loved how they teased and built up the top rope spot the entire match. Just simple storytelling.

ACH vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru : **¼

Okay match. If you look at the match, nothing wrong with it but it wasn't very interesting. Although I liked the DDT Kanemaru did.

Taiji Ishimori vs Flip Gordon: **¼

Sigh. This meh. Ishimori’s work on top was actually pretty good and I enjoyed it but I don't like Flip so the work can only be so effective. Flip’s comebacks weren't great, he just annoyed me. He tries way too hard to look flashy instead of doing the simple things right. Sad.

Will Ospreay vs Yoh: ***½

Good main event. Bit long but the work in the match was pretty entertaining. Ospreay was the more dominant of two which made sense and I think he did well. Two CHAOS members trying to outdo each other, leading to a fun match. Yoh did much better here than the previous matches. Not much selling though, which is my only criticism.

Best Of The Super Juniors Day 6

Marty Scurll vs Chris Sabin: ***¼

Pretty good match. The crowd was receptive to both which is great and they worked the match well. Scurll (and Sabin) may have had his comedy shtick in the match but this time, he kept it at the beginning of match and gradually became more serious as the match progress. Something he should've done in the KUSHIDA match.

Ryusuke Taguchi vs KUSHIDA: NR

TAGUCHI!!!!!!!!!

Sho vs El Desperado: ***¾

Another great match for both, especially Sho who has been awesome so far. El Desperado’s work on the leg of Sho was great, real vicious work. Sho sold it very well until the end.

Hiromu Takahashi vs Dragon Lee: ****¼

Excellent match. Just like the other matches these two have had. It's almost impossible for these two to have a bad match with each other. Very smooth, crisp, lots of call backs to their previous matches. Great. Not much selling but it wasn't a problem for me as these two were awesome without it.

Best Of The Super Juniors Day 8

Marty Scurll vs El Desperado : ***½

Very good match. Both the devilish tricksters, trying to out cheat each other. Scurll’s selling of the leg was very spotty and could've been way better than it was. Also, they overbooked the match at the end with the unneeded ref bump.

Chris Sabin vs Dragon Lee: ***

Solid back and forth match. Really enjoyable

KUSHIDA vs Sho: ****

Hell yeah. Great match. Loved KUSHIDA’s arm work, very nasty looking work. Sho sold his arm very consistently throughout the match. Sho has been awesome this tournament, he is the MVP of the BOSJ so far.

Hiromu Takahashi vs Ryusuke Taguchi: ***¾

Very, very good main event. Mixture of comedy and serious wrestle. I love Takahashi using his new submission to win, great way to build tension in matches. Hope more wrestle start to adopt more submissions.
