Jr. Charisma Special - Part One

NJPW 38th Anniversary Series  Day 1 2010, March 5th - Vs Naomichi Marufuji:

"What a fucking match. Marufuji comes into this as the heel outsider that gets booed straight away against the babyface veteran defending his company and its title. The story is fairly typical in Japan but man is it a great one. They were non stop for 30+ minutes with some breathtaking sequences, some great limb work from both Marufuji and Kanemoto and a great finishing stretch. Kanemoto has some great facial expressions here as always, coming off as both smug and sympathetic, controlling the crowd and the flip of his fingers, getting the crowd to boo him so soon after cheering him and getting them back in his side like it was nothing. This is a fantastic match and one that breezed past. I was exhausted after this match which shows how good it is. The only thing that stop it from getting the full 5 stars from me is Marufuji's bad selling. Tremendous match despite it though. One of my favourite matches and one I always love to watch. ****3/4"

NJPW Best Of The Super Junior V Day 16 1998, June 3rd - Vs Dr Wagner Jr.:

"This match is the perfect example of a forgotten classic. A match that no one mentions or talks about and yet is up there with some of the greatest matches in the past twenty years. A great end to a great BOSJ. The babyface Kanemoto fighting, struggling against the wiser, foreign heel in Dr Wagner Jr. who is typing him up in knots. Can Kanemoto find a way? Yes he can. Kanemoto's performance in this match is very, very good. Gets the crowd rallying behind him, sells all of Wagner's offence extraordinarily well. Shows loads of fire in his comebacks and has the uncanny ability to make you think a match is over with his incredibly well timed, near falls. Wagner is great in his heel role which he is use to with him being a great rudo (and tecnico) in his career. Both have 10/10 performances, the atmosphere is electric and everything clicks. Fantastic match. ****3/4"

NJPW Fighting Spirit Day 16 1997, February 16th - Vs Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger:

"The greatest junior heavyweight of all time vs Jushin Thunder Liger.... This is an excellent match, Kanemoto spent 10 minutes just dominating Liger, who sold everything really well. Had some great high spots that popped the crowd big. ****1/2"

NJPW Best Of The Super Junior IV Tag 17 1997, June 5th - Vs El Samurai:

"Great match. A slow, but dramatic build to this one. They started with the soft strikes and submissions but every second, they escalated the pace until it was a frenzy. Them just hitting each other with big moves and trying to outdo each other which is always a fun match. Kanemoto's does some lovely work over El Samurai, really laying into him with some nasty kicks and at one point, hitting a reverse Frankensteiner of the top rope, spiking El Samurai on his head; causing Samurai chants to ensure from the crowd. Great comeback by El Samurai, giving this match a good and satisfying ending. ****1/2"
