WWE Backlash 2003

WWE Tag Team Title Match - Team Angle (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) (c) vs. Los Guerreros (Chavo Guerrero & Eddie Guerrero)
Pretty good opener to the show. Team Angle was always a team I liked whenever I watched them, same with Los Guerreros and they didn’t disappoint. The crowd was hot for Eddie so whenever Team Angle worked on Eddie, this was rabid. Shelton was really good at working the back and wrenching on the holds, some great tandem offence too to spice up the match. Chavo was the FIP for most of it but I feel like he did a good job here. Good match. ***½

Rikishi vs. Sean O'Haire (w/Roddy Piper)
Bad match. Rikishi was past his prime so he wasn’t very good here and could do very little, O’Haire SUCKED here. Slow, uncoordinated, sloppy. Bleh. Why people thought this guy is a missed opportunity is beyond me, imagine him stinking up Lesnar’s WWE title matches.Ugh. *¼

World Tag Team Title Match (Special Referee: Chief Morley) - Kane & Rob Van Dam (c) vs. The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley)
Pretty dull match for the most part. Paint by numbers tag with nothing much to standout beside RVD. RVD is at his best when he does rad moves and gets his shit in. Fuck selling, just do moves. He ruled. The rest of the match was meh though. The ending was awesome saying that. **½

World Women's Title Match - Trish Stratus (c) vs. Jazz (w/Theodore Long)
*Jazz’s music* People get up and walk off to the stands. LOL. Shit match. Trish is bad and Jazz ain’t much better. The best part of the match was Long throwing a shoe at Trish which was funny. ½*

Rey Mysterio vs. The Big Show
I liked this match. Suited both men. Rey had someone to bump around and show off his great babyface tendencies and Big show and toss people around looking like a beast. Exactly what it should’ve been. ***

WWE Heavyweight Title Match - Brock Lesnar (c) vs. John Cena
Real good match. Early Cena can be hit and miss but he put it all on the line in this match and wrestled really well. Lesnar’s bumping was great too, making Cena look like a star in the match, making some fiery comebacks. Awesome title defence. ***½

Booker T, Kevin Nash & Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho, Ric Flair & Triple H
This looked bad on paper and it turned out to be an okay match. Some decent interactions, nothing worth touching on. **½

Goldberg vs. The Rock
Goldberg vs Rock. Huge moment, huge match. Not one of Goldberg’s text book matches, he is selling for the most part but I still liked it. Rock’s chicken shit heel character was great. Loved his trash talking and stalling. Goldberg’s offence looked nasty as fuck. Stiff. Poor Rock. ***½

Overall
Meh show. Some good matches like Rock/Berg, Guerreros/Team Angle, Rey/Show and Cena/Brock but some really bad matches too and the rest are forgettable. BEST MATCH TO WORST: Brock vs Cena - [***1/2]. Goldberg vs. The Rock [***1/2]. Guerreros vs Team Angle [***1/2]. Rey vs Big Show [***]. Six Man Tag [**1/2]. Dudleys vs Kane/RVD [**1/2]. Rikishi vs O’Haire [**1/4]. Trish vs Jazz [1/2*].
