WWE Summerslam 2003

World Tag Team Title Match - La Resistance (Rene Dupree & Sylvain Grenier) (c) vs. The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley)
Baffling opener. *

The A-Train vs. The Undertaker
Solid match. Loved A-Train going to town on Taker’s ribs. It was pretty brutal at times and Taker generally sold it well. A-Train is pretty underrated and Taker around the 00’s ain’t bad either (lol). Could’ve done without the Stephanie and Sable bollocks tbh. ***

No Disqualification Falls Count Anywhere Match - Eric Bischoff vs. Shane McMahon
This took way too long to get entertaining. ¾*

WWE United States Title Fatal Four Way Match - Eddie Guerrero (c) vs. Chris Benoit vs. Rhyno vs. Tajiri
Decent match. With the guys in the match I honestly expected MUCH more and it didn’t deliver to that hype, sadly. **1/2

WWE Heavyweight Title Match - Kurt Angle (c) vs. Brock Lesnar
Fantastic match. There was some pretty awesome mat wrestling in the vain of amateur wrestling to start of the match. Lesnar quickly realises he can not out-wrestle an Olympic gold medal so begins using his weight to dominate the match. Whenever Angle began to get a foothold into the match, Brock would show off his power, whether that was by a overhead suplex (In one case where he didn't even arch his back or bend his legs. He launches Angle using his arms. FUCKING BEAST MODE Brock is a best) or just punching him. Lesnar then did some brutal work on Angle's back. Brock was in his element working over someone as the dominant bully. His speed, intensity and power just make this all the better. Lesnar makes too many mistakes and hurts his shoulder in the meantime, allowing Angle to capitalize and start getting back into this match and begins going for Brock's leg for the ankle lock. Brock? s selling off this is amazing. Even selling it during an one legged F5 on Angle. Angle does this amazing bit where he does a sort of lucha-esc (Pretty sure I've seen it in lucha matches before) submission hold to wear down Brock for the Ankle lock. The McMahon interference was fine, didn't harm the match and it lead to the awesome vicious off Lesnar TAPPING OUT (!!!) whilst scream for Vince. Fuck me what a match. ****3/4

No Holds Barred Match - Kane vs. Rob Van Dam
What the hell was this? So boring. Sloppy as heel. RVD’s moves were fun but that’s it. *

World Heavyweight Title Elimination Chamber Match - Triple H (w/Ric Flair) (c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash vs. Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
Awesome match. The pacing was well done. They did a great job of integrating the main and littler feuds into the match and making it the overarching story. I can’t help but feel they were just waiting for Goldberg to get in a kick some ass. When he did, it was pretty goddamn amazing to see. He kicked so much ass and eliminated everyone still in the match. EPIC. Goldberg breaking down Triple H’s pod should’ve been a catalyst for a title win. BUT NO. Ugh. ***1/2

An okay show. One great match, a few good ones and a few day matches. BEST To Worst: Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle [****3/4], The Elimination Chamber Match [***1/2], A-Train vs Undertaker [***], Eddie vs Rhyno vs Benoit vs Tajiri [**1/2], Rob Van Dam vs Kane [*], La Resistance vs Dudleys [*], Shane vs Eric Bischoff [3/4*]
