Yet another boring take of Tom Magee vs Bret Hart; The Holy Grail

Yes, I know. Not surely another review of the Lost match. Well, yes, I want to watch it and give my thoughts on the match. Fuck you :p. Love the addition of WWE doing a documentary with big wrestling nerds like Chris Hero (who is wearing a Jumbo shirt. This is why he is so great), Sean Waltman (X-Pac), Davey Boy Smith Jr, Tyson Kidd and Sam Roberts talking the legend behind it. So cool. I previously have watched the Ted DiBiase match and it's okay. Has a few cool spots but basically an average house show match. So, let's see if it's worth the wait...

Match joins slightly JIP and Magee shows off his great athleticism. It's pretty wild to see, and pops the crowd. Even in 1986, Bret stood out as a great wrestler who can make someone look great. I think he fits as a heel like a glove which makes his ability to work a as face even more special. He stooges and throws a tantrum anytime Magee out smarts him, like the corner flip & Dropkick combo. Then, in an act in pettiness, poses after he regains control. Great heel work by Bret. The crowd really hates Bret and this gets them behind Magee who is previously unknown, as this is his try out match. Magee doesn't get much offence but when he does, it looks okay, mostly prompted up by Bret's bumping. There is a great spot where Magee misses a dropkick and Bret swaggererly bops his head, being so proud of himself and throws Magee to the outside. That comes back to haunt him when Magee comes back in witha  roll up and wins!

So yeah, that was the famous match. I think Bret's heel work was the major highlight of this match, moreso then anything Magee does tbh. I give this **3/4. Clever finish and good character work from start to finish. Exactly what it should've been.
