Top Of The Super Junior II Match: Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Owen Hart - NJPW Explosion Tour 1991 Day 11 28/04/1991
Good match, they had nice chemistry together. Some fun extechnages of matwork and some nice technical wrestling by both. Liked Owen working on the arm of Liger, but it was no sold by Liger which is a shame. That top rope DDT is a great move, really dangerous to take though. ***1/2
IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Top Of The Super Junior II Tournament Final Match (vacant): Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Norio Honaga - NJPW Explosion Tour 1991 Day 12 30/04/1991
Liger totally schooled Honga with his superb mat work early on. Liger pulled out some crafty moves, like the headscissors take over and the WOS-type pin. Honaga was surprisingly the crowd favourite in this considering he is about of the Blond Outlaws and he doesn’t do much face like but I like he doesn’t act like a heel either, except for the part when he went for the mask. He is ambiguous at first and seems to embrace the crowd further down the line. He stepped up his work as well. Liger’s audible selling was really good, when he Honaga was stretching his shoulders apart, his screams of pain really put it over as a painful hold and gave the match a gritty feel, almost. The finishing stretch is really good with Honaga throwing everything he could muster with Liger just trying to hang on but eventually falling. ****
