AJPW Super Power Series 1992 Part One (Can-Am Express vs Kobashi/Kikuchi & SGA vs Tsuruta Gun)

Tsuruta-Gun (Akira Taue, Jumbo Tsuruta & Masanobu Fuchi) vs. Super Generation Army ) Kenta Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa & Toshiaki Kawada) - AJPW Super Power Series 1992 - Day 6 22/05/1992
Holy shit, there was a litany of great things in this match. The fundamentals of Tsuruta-Gun acting hellish and aggressive against the SGA’s determination and feistiness was great. Kawada flipping Fuchi off was a great example of that. It minded me of Austin so much, just that little thing stood out in near 40 minutes of action packed wrestling. Kobashi lighting Taue up with chops was great. I think it’s one of the first notable examples of the machine gun chops, the earliest  I’ve seen. Misawa cleaning up house, helping his partners whenever Tsuruta Gun try and get involved, hitting elbows everywhere. The nearfalls with Kawada and Fuchi rocked as well. A great match overall. Put watching this off for awhile, I’m not entirely sure why but that was a mistake. This was pretty great. ****1/2

All Asia Tag Team Title Match: Dan Kroffat & Doug Furnas (c) vs. Kenta Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi - AJPW Super Power Series 1992 - Day 8 25/05/1992
Legendary crowd. Legendary FIP performance by Kikuchi. Legendary match. A great southern style tag team match with the Can-Am Express double teaming and working over Kicuchi who gives almost as good as he gets whenever he is on offence. And 6he crowd going nuts for Kikuchi from the start, screaming his name from on top of their lungs. It’s so infectious. Kobashi is great in the match, adding tons weight of to the match. Any time him and Kroffat are in the ring is magic. The nearfalls are nail-baiting. The drama is unprecedented. *****
