Chris Dickinson vs. Jimmy Lloyd
This was a super fun go-go-go match with tons of quick moves. Dickinson had some good technical work while Lloyd, while sloppy (in appealing way), did everything to try and match the skill of Dickinson. Super good match. ***
Tony Deppen vs. Effy
Deppen was a fucking animal in this match. He wanted none of “none of that gay shit” (his words, not mine) and wanted to maime Effy. He was super vicious and focused on top, hitting some mean offence and tying Effy up in knots. Effy was really good as the underdog, selling super well with the crowd behind him all the way. All the match they were chanting “Suck his dick” which is great but Deppen made it even better by mockingly saying it while he beat on Effy. Surprisingly violent match. ***1/2
Matthew Justice vs. Matt Tremont
Loved Matthew Justice attacking Tremont’s arm to open his wounds from his match in Japan. Who says deathmatches don’t have psychology? The match got pretty gruesome from that point forward with the fork being brought on and Tremount bleeds like a pig. Matt Tremont pulling the fork out of his hand and stabbing Justice was gnarly with it is the type of thing I watch deathmatches for. But before that, they beat the hell out of each other with the big bomb start to the match on the outside. Matthew Justice killing Tremont only for Tremont to keep getting up made for a hell of a finish, too. ***3/4
Mance Warner vs. Allie Kat
The story coming into this match, from what I read, is that Mance Warner wanted to see Allie Kat get aggressive and show a mean streak. Simple story, it was interesting seeing it done in an intergender setting. And with such extravagant characters such as these two - a big understatement as well. Mance Warner really lays in the chops, punches and weapon shots. The use of the skewers towards Allie Kat’s private parts was grim. Warner didn’t hold back with the staplers and trash talk either. It was ugly at times. Thankfully Allie Kat beat the hell out of with as well. Herself even using the stapler to staple her underwear to his tongue, of all things. It was super satisfying seeing Mance get his ass beaten many times. And it all built to a gratifying finish where Allie Kat would roll up Mance to win the match. That promo with Mance showing signs of respect was also cool. ***3/4
GCW World Title Death Match: Rickey Shane Page (w/Atticus Cogar, Eddy Only & Gregory Iron) (c) vs. Nick Gage (w/Dewey Donovan)
THAT FUCKING ENTRANCE!!!!!! MDK! MDK! MDK! MDK! MDK! MDK! MDK! I have no clue what to think about the ending to the match. On one hand, it’s very overbooked with them running through everything that you can do with a stable like 44.OH. They came out, the roster chased them off. They came out, heel turn. Nearfalls. Brett Lauderdale refusing to count. Everything but it all works so well and creates so much heat that the fans near enough rioted. I even got annoyed and frustrated by the antics as well. That’s a rare. The match maybe fell a little flat in the middle part with RSP slowing the pace down a little, but that was intended. Nick Gage is a master at working the crowd into a frenzy with his amazing entrance. Rickey Shane Page antagonizes the crowd and acts like the scummiest dude with his stalling and facial expressions. The brawling in the crowd is super intense as well with the violence matching the atmosphere and story. I loved this. Totally lived up-to the hype. ****1/2
