Satoshi Kojima vs Jamal - AJPW September Dream 2004 Day 7 - 25/09/2004

I'm a big fan of Jamal's WWE Run as Umaga. He wrestles perfectly according to his size. He hits big when required, he has a nice variety of offence without it turning into a Michael Elgin/Brian Cage "let me do my moves" thing. And he has great speed and agility, which he used well in the match. Kojima was great as the fiery fan favourite. He didn't back down from Jamal, taking it to him and leveled him with everything he had.

I loved that the match was competitive. Most of the small(ish) vs big matches can be lopsided but Kojima and Jamal went toe to toe. It was thrilling to watch the two struggle to keep the other down. There was some cracking wrestling to boot. Kojima blocking Jamal's lariat attempt by throwing his arm into his and hitting the Koji Cutter in one motion looked so wonderfully smooth. You had to admire it. Jamal had some great power moves with Kojima sold well and the crowd bought as match ended. Even know he never hit it, Jamal had an amazing looking moonsault. The finishing stretch was classic Kojima where he'd run at you until you made a mistake and he could nail a lariat. This was a big effort from both guys. ****
