Delfin/Sasuke & Ishikawa/Ikeda

UWA World Welterweight Title vs. Mask Match: Super Delfin (c) vs. The Great Sasuke - Michinoku Pro 24/07/1993
The match started off with a pretty incredible fireworks display. And that pretty much sets the tone of the match. I think this was one of the first matches I watched when the ditch was a thing. Never really went into Michinoku Pro beforehand and I found this match. Haven’t watched it since but it’s one of the few matches I resonate with the promotion. Super Deflin really stands out as great in this. Totally indulges in the crowd’s love for Sasauke and creates heat for himself. Loved his beatdown on Sasuke. Sasuke was great as the underdog too. ****1/4

Yuki Ishikawa vs Daisuke Ikeda - Battlarts 29/07/1999
This was a really fun match. Ishikawa nailing punches into the ribs and then the face of Ikeda early on while he was on top looked pretty stiff and Ikeda replying with hard kicks suggests that to be true. The grappling was really good with a great sense of struggle and awareness between the two. Ishikawa knew Ikeda's strikes but no matter how hard he tried, Ikeda kept on sinching in nasty submission holds. There was some unepected stuff in this as well - Ikeda actually tried to go to the top up. Ishikawa, the crowd and myself was stunned at that. Loved the finishing stretch with Ikeda trhowing wilding strikes and Ishikawa blocking a lariat attempt into a chicken wing. ***3/4
