AJPW Summer Action Series I 1992

All Asia Tag Team Title Match: Kenta Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi (c) vs. Masanobu Fuchi & Yoshinari Ogawa - AJPW Summer Action Series 1992 - Day 2 05/07/1992
The rise of the Junior Heavyweights indeed. This was good stuff. Kikuchi was a great FIP, selling and bumping hard for Fuchi and Ogawa. Fuchi was great as the dominant one, dictating the pace and looking really solid on top. Kobashi had his great spots like the olympic rolls. Ogawa played his role well. He was the weakest of the lot in hierarchy but with Fuchi on his side, he got a bigger shine than he normally would. ***3/4

AJPW Summer Action Series II 1992

Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Williams & Terry Gordy) vs. Tsuruta-Gun (Akira Taue & Jumbo Tsuruta) AJPW Summer Action Series II 1992 - Day 3 22/08/1992
Jumbo looks very different compared to the match I saw him in which was months prior to this. His illness is affecting his look unfortunately. Impressive that he was able to not let it affect his work ethic because he was fire here. He was the short run in and destroy guy. Taue is the workhorse though. He takes a licking off the MVC who pummel him with stiff shots and amateur based mat work. Fun match. ***3/4

Triple Crown Title Match: Stan Hansen (c) vs. Mitsuharu Misawa - AJPW Summer Action Series II 1992 - Day 3 22/08/1992
On paper this was a good match but it lacked something. The dual limb attacks from both was a good idea on paper but it was so dull. There was no drama in the holds other than when Hansen held on after a rope break or something like that, you never bought them and considering the match was mostly full off them, it made the match disinterested. The finishing stretch was good though, but that you can argue that gave the match a disjointed feel because it was so different from everything prior. Oh well. **3/4

Super Generation Army (Kenta Kobashi & Mitsuharu Misawa) vs. Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Williams & Terry Gordy) - AJPW Summer Action Series II 1992 - Day 7 27/08/1992
Sadly, this is just yet another Miracle Violence Connection match that doesn't live up to snuff. Kobashi being the focus was neat, especially coming off a Misawa title win. There just wasn't much to gravitate to. The crowd heat was tepid, really and it's like the MVC felt it and matched it for quality. Fine but disappointing. **3/4

AJPW October Giant Series 1992

Triple Crown Title Match: Mitsuharu Misawa (c) vs. Toshiaki Kawada - AJPW October Giant Series 1992 - Day 17 21/10/1992
The first meeting of the two and it was tremendous. The atmosphere alone gave me goosebumps. A bit of a slaw starts with the tag partners trying to feel each other but Kawada then starts to get the better of Misawa, pissing Misawa off. Kawada working on the arm and head of Misawa, before trying to put him away. Misawa then gets the crowd on his side and the match picks up the pace and the all japan bomb fest begins. They lay into each other with their biggest moves and brutal strikes. The finish was good, even if it wasn't clean. ****1/2

AJPW Real World Tag League 1992

Mitsuharu Misawa & Toshiaki Kawada vs Kenta Kobashi & Giant Baba - AJPW Real World Tag League 1992 - Day 13 27/11/1992
Giant Baba looks really big in this match. I know his name is Giant Baba but after not seeing him for ages, he looks so tall. Or maybe Kawada is just small. Anyway, its Baba’s time to shine against the current generation. Kawada threw a chop and Baba sold it in a way that was really funny but in a good way. I love facials when someone throws chops and he sells Kawada’s chops super well. The opening exchanges were fine, Baba has limitations and I’m fine to judge him within those limitations. He does a fine job, Misawa and Kawada bump well for the guy. Kobashi is a beast in this match with a big effort to help the load on Baba. Kobashi gets pinned, obviously but he puts up a hell of an effort as the fans were on his side. ***1/2

Mitsuharu Misawa & Toshiaki Kawada vs Akira Taue & Jun Akiyama - AJPW Real World Tag League 1992 - Day 19 04/12/1992
Jun Akiyama in his debut year being in the second biggest tournament finals of the All Japan calendar. Nuts. Credit to the lad. This was a decent match. I liked how Taue after months and months of being the big heel that the fans booed is now the fan favourite because he’s on the underdog side with Akiyama. Akiyama is as good as you can be at this stage, he sells well, he hits his moves well and takes the pin. Kawada and Misawa are dominant but there isn’t much to their offence, I felt. The match had its quality from Taue and Akiyama while Misawa and Kawada kind of slotted into a role of the winners of the match. ***
