Getting bowdy bowdy and rowdy rowdy with 1993 AAA (Jan-Feb)

AAA Sin Limite 1993 - 31/01/1993
Espanto Jr. & Jerry Estrada vs. La Pareja Atomica (Eddy Guerrero & El Hijo del Santo)
A slowish pace may affect the spectacular spots but it allowed for the individual face offs to breath a bit. The first fall is Santo v Espanto Jr which is slow and careful with Santo eventually peaking the segment with his head scissors and then the Estrada and Eddie having the more quicker exchanges, eventually leading to a wiffed finish where Santo misses a bulldog off Eddie Guerrero's shoulders. The second fall swapped the pairings with the rudo team getting more in this time and doing more rudo tricks such as fouling Eddie Guerrero and cheap shotting him from behind. The rudos get a fall back, leading to a very heated third fall, filled with mask ripping, hot near falls and spectacular wrestling in general. Santo and Eddie mess up a double team move again down the stretch but that was one poor botch. Cool match. ***1/2

AAA Sin Limite 1993 - 07/02/1993
Rey Misterio Jr., Super Calo & Winners vs. Heavy Metal, Picudo & Psicosis
Crazy and lengthy bout. I won't say that I was blown away by this because I wasn't. It had a good mix of Southern Heel influenced schtick with incredible aerial moves that this era of AAA trios matches are known for. Mysterio and Psychosis show some of their fab chemistry that'll carry them into WCW 3 years later. There were a lot of cool ideas and neat DQ and count out finishes. A bit disjointed but it's an enjoyable match. ***1/2

Konnan & La Pareja Atomica (Eddy Guerrero & El Hijo del Santo) vs. Los Hermanos Dinamita (Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 & Universo 2000)
As a fan of  Nueva GeneraciĆ³n Dinamita, the younger sons of LHD, it was cool seeing the original trio together. The match was okay. Tons of heat. The crowd was itching to see Konnan and Cien Caras in the ring together. This was solid way to build up the feud between the two. **1/2

AAA Sin Limite 1993 - 14/02/1993
Rey Mysterio Jr., Super Calo & Winners vs. Heavy Metal, Picudo & Psicosis
This was awesome. It was shorter than the acclaimed 5* match from a week prior but it was far more interesting as a match as a whole. So chaotic and stunt driven. Again, Rey vs Psicosis steal the show ****

Los Destructores (Rocco Valente & Tony Arce) & Mr. Maldad vs Misterioso, Solar & Volador
Other than Solar, I have no clue who any of these luchadores are which makes it tricky to really grasp who is feuding with who and what is happening. But just watching a near 30 minute six man tag with everyone coming in and out at will is a bit of a spectacle. The six man row-a-boat spot reminded me of something out of Toryumon Japan. I think I'll need to revisit these types of matches once I get accustomed to the lesser known roster members. ***

Konnan & La Pareja Atomica (Eddy Guerrero & El Hijo del Santo) vs. Los Hermanos Dinamita (Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 & Universo 2000)
The pouring rain was a tricky thing to overcome. It lead to some less than slick team work from either said, a few slips and slides were more prevalent than outstanding spots. But I think Los Hermanos carried the match with their ultra rudo, basic style and Cien Caras’ crowd working. Konnan is said to be faking an injury to avoid working in the rain (which is smart and admirable in a way) but it seemed like a normal part of the match. To me, that was just something to get heat on LHD and sympathy for everyone's favourite Cuban. ***1/2

AAA Sin Limite 1993 - 21/02/1993
Eddy Guerrero, Lizmark & Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Heavy Metal, La Parka & Psicosis
La Parka is only a year into the La Parka gimmick (which I only recently found out meant The Reaper. I can't believe that I have never recognised the connection in all of my years watching him) and he's already super over despite being a rudo. He'd dance and send the crowd wild. The commentary team had a hell of a time with Parka. I don't speak Spanish but they kept on saying rudo so I guess it was done ironically because of the cheers. The match was good but nothing great. The rudos cheated and cheated throughout the whole match, even to the point of trying to claim Lizmark fouled La Parka which the refs didn't buy. And it eventually led to the technico team winning the 3rd fall via DQ. Justice. Rather than Rey Mysterio and Psicosis having the best spot of the match, it was Rey, Psicosis and La Parka. The rudo duo tried to double team up on Rey with Psicosis attempting an enziguri but hitting Parka instead when Rey ducked. Eddy Guerrero stood out to me as well because of how white meat he came off as. And that's not a criticism. Think Surfer Sting. It's that level of “fired up”. ***1/4

Mexican National Tag Team Title Match: Misterioso & Volador (c) vs. Los Destructores (Tony Arce & Vulcano)
Deathly boring. There were some decent spots but there was a lot of dead space in such a lengthy bout. It lost me early and it didn't get me back. **

Konnan, Octagon & Perro Aguayo vs. Cien Caras, Fishman & Fuerza Guerrera
This was a bit different from the usual Los Hermanos Dinamita trios main event as Fishman and Fuerza Guerrera are a different kettle of fish ( :) ). We get more Cien Caras and Konnan have their moments but the key spots of the match were between Perro Aguayo and Fishman. Fishman is pretty old by this point but Perro is magic. Octagon has some impressive aerial spots too. ***

AAA Sin Limite 1993 - 28/02/1993
Hair Vs. Hair Match: Martha Villalobos vs. La Briosa
Martha Villialobos came out to “Welcome To The Jungle”, which is awesome. But what was particularly cool was that she looked like Dump Matsumoto. I wonder if Las Rockeras is a tribute to Gokuaku Domei because it looks similar. The match is fine. They put a lot of heart into the match as it's an apuestas match. La Briosa bleeds while Villialobos flies around. Decent. Villalobos wins by dq. **1/2

Love Machine, Octagon & Perro Aguayo vs. Blue Panther, Fuerza Guerrera & Mascara Ano 2000
Solid main event. Love Machine and Blue Panther have their “tease an illegal piledriver” spots. **1/2
