WCW World Tag Team Title Triangle Match: Kidman & Rey Mysterio Jr. (c) vs. Perry Saturn & Raven vs. The Four Horsemen (Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko) (w/Arn Anderson)
The tag team division has been the best thing about WCW in 1999 and this naturally delivers the good again. It's a spotfest between three different kinds of teams so it's not exactly clean and it's messy at times but it's fun overall. It was neat seeing Arn Anderson interfere and hit a spinebuster but that plus Kanyon helping Raven and Saturn win was a bit much for once match. ***
Konnan vs. Stevie Ray (w/Horace & Vincent)
Konnan vs The last remains of the NWO has been WCW's longest running feud of the year. Going on 5 months now. Can we end this already? The biggest highspot of the match was an, admittedly, good looking back elbow from Stevie Ray. The rest of the match was kept to basics as whenever they tried to get more advanced, it'd lead to sloppiness and outright botched moves. Even the interference for the finish was messed up with Horace and Vincent messing up a ducked clothesline spot with Rey Mysterio Jr. **
Hardcore Match: Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Brian Knobbs
This was the perfect example of doing a little by doing the lot. Trashy brawl with no redeeming moments. The bumps were brutal, with them mostly being on concrete, but had no impact on the match, drama wise, so it's pointless. *
WCW World Television Title Match: Booker T (c) vs. Rick Steiner
Heatless match despite some good work from Rick Steiner. He definitely lacks the charisma and crowd connection he once had but his offence looks stiff and tight. I love a good punch to the ribs and Rick had many of that. Booker T did his usual spots that normally would liven up the crowd but they got silence here. Scott Steiner coming down causes a stir in the crowd as he helps his brother win the TV Title, hinting at the reuniting of the Steiners that'll come real soon. Booker T got protected in his loss but he didn't come out strongly. **3/4
Gorgeous George (w/Medusa, Miss Madness & Randy Savage) vs. Charles Robinson
I'm grading this on a curve as they are non wrestlers, but fuck it, this was awesome. They successfully worked a long hammerlock exchange spot for great effect. Robinson has Flair's mannerisms down pat. Everything from his heel work to the timing of the Flair Flop. Gorgeous George has surprisingly great in the sympathetic face role so make things more complete. The use of Flair and Savage was just right as well to add to the match rather than overshadow the comedic elements of it. It makes me question why Flair is feuding with Piper instead of Savage as his main feud. ***1/2
WCW United States Heavyweight Title Match: Scott Steiner (c) vs. Buff Bagwell
This was pretty much a mauling. Steiner didn't give Bagwell a lot until the end and then Rick Steiner confirmed the heel turn by turning on Bagwell to help his brother. **
Roddy Piper vs. Ric Flair (w/Arn Anderson & Asya)
For two old men who are past it, this was a solid match that solely consisted of punches, chops and their old spots. Ric Flair shows his pale butt, does a Flair Flop and sneaks his way through the match. Piper does his boxer routine and the sleeper a lot. Arn interferes to help Flair win but Bischoff (who has no power officially) shows up and says Piper won. What's official? Fuck knows. **1/2
Sting vs. Goldberg
Bret Hart is back!!! The highlight of this match which was very disappointing. So short, and not in the traditional Goldberg way. No room to build anything special before Bret come back to attack Goldberg. Then the Steiners come down and attack Sting, for reasons. The crowd is into what little we actually get between Goldberg and Sting. The Spear counter to the Stinger splash was a small glimpse of the greatest this could've produced. **1/4
WCW World Heavyweight Title Match: Diamond Dallas Page (c) vs. Kevin Nash
This was beyond uninspiring. DDP beat a hot Sting in the same night he won the title just to drop it to Nash to a much lesser reaction in a worse match. Savage, who was a big face earlier in the night, comes out and causes a DQ by attacking Nash. Bischoff, who's not in charge, comes down and restarts the match. They wrestle some more and Nash wins the title. Great. **
