Jacob Fatu vs Titus Alexander - West Coast Pro Ride The Lightning

West Coast Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Title Match: Jacob Fatu (c) vs. Titus Alexander - West Coast Pro Ride The Lightning - The 4 Year Anniversary Show - 08/10/2022
Titus Alexander is supposed to be a real prospect. I was left disappointed by his very ordinary performance against Will Ospreay earlier in the year but maybe with someone not so set in their ways, he’ll stand out better. Fatu is nothing but cool anyway. The match starts heavy with Titus Alexander attacking early, before baling to the floor when that failed but Fatu wastes him with topes and throws him into the crowd seats. Cool opening. Fatu manhandles Titus with ease, launching him in the air at one point and Titus Alexander bumping around the ring.  The heel/face dynamics seem to be missing, which is okay on-paper. The commentary keeps mentioning the attitude of Titus Alexander and he did minor things like going to the outside but he’s also considered the franchise of West Coast Pro and wrestles like a babyface. Fatu is chatting shit as well. I’ll just accept that though. Alexander sells well. He has a good knack for looking exhausted when he pauses with how he slumps on the ropes. I’m not really impressed with his offence though. He doesn’t do anything particularly cutting edge, opting for the generic indie offence along with doing a lot of wasted motion that doesn’t look easy on the eyes. But when he does things simple like a dropkick, it looks decent. His striking in the strike exchange looked awkward but the spot did lead to an awesome pop up samoan drop by Fatu. The match itself was alright. It was a culmination of the rise of Titus Alexander, who beats Fatu for the title; meaning that he takes all of Fatu’s biggest moves and kicks out of them to drive that home. A decent little match but it was another Titus Alexander match that didn’t make me think anything of him despite both matches intending to showcase him. Fatu was decent. He had some great highspots but the match building wasn’t that strong in terms of drama. A fine package overall but unless you’re already invested in the promotion, I can’t recommend it. **1/2
