JONAH vs. Kazuchika Okada II

JONAH vs. Kazuchika Okada - NJPW Declaration Of Power - 10/10/2022
Awesome semi main event that will set up something later in the show and half of the Wrestle Kingdom 17 main event. The match started brightly with JONAH showing his strength (and agility) quickly into the matchy with a diving shoulder block off the apron and then ramming Okada back first into the ring post via the splash mountain position. Okada, like their G1 match, has to deal with a hurt back with JONAH focusing on it. Okada proves to be effective while working against adversity in terms of being both sympathetic and more impassioned in a fiery way. Okada had some cool tricks like chop blocking JONAH to set up the money clip and using JONAH’s momentum on a missed running corner splash to hit a bodyslam. The match had its own Inoki tribute with the Vader/Inoki release german suplex bump which, combined with a running lariat, made for a great nearfall. JONAH had a great uranage counter to the rainmaker attempt and some good subsequent selling when he went upto the top rope for a splash that he eventually missed. Okada brought some of his great germans of his own as well. The closing stretch as a whole was a treat and is worth watching. ***3/4
