Takuya Nomura vs Yuji Okabayashi - BJW New Year 2022 - 02/01/2022

BJW World Strong Heavyweight Title Match: Takuya Nomura (c) vs. Yuji Okabayashi - BJW New Year 2022 - 02/01/2022
A match that contains both the tropes of modern wrestling while still retaining the feeling of a proper fight? Such a novel concept that Dai Nihon has brought to us in the package of this match. The only thing worth faulting is the booking. Yet again a promising title reign is cut short. Nomura is fantastic (as is Okabayashi) and shows why he deserves the title and the world with his performance. Great offence and even better selling. The brutality made the size difference a complete none factor. Nomura kicks and slaps harder than a lot of people and Okabayashi feels every blow. His work on the arm was splendid. It spawned from Nomura playing a test of strength against the one hand and Nomura spent the rest of the match attacking the arm that beat his two. Okabayashi was great in his own right and responsible for the match’s quality just as much as Nomura. Nomura just happens to be my focus point for this review. It’s a quality match. ****
